FAQs

About Us

What does “Na Nin” mean?

Na Nin, meaning 'I am,' was inspired by our founder's experience learning Korean while living abroad. One of the first sentences she learned was, "I am happy because I am with you." Na Nin is a reminder of the importance of kindness.

PRODUCT & MANUFACTURING

Where does Na Nin source and manufacture its clothing?

Our vintage clothing is carefully curated and sourced by our vintage team in Richmond, VA. We’re proud that vintage is a sustainable way to invest in fashion, and it remains the guiding force of our business.

Over 95% of our non-vintage clothing is produced in Los Angeles, California. In 2023, we partnered with a small women-owned factory in Lima, Peru that provides jobs to local artists who produce our knitwear. Nylon accessories and apparel are produced in Quanzhou, China, and we’ve recently released organic cotton pieces manufactured in Japan.

Our jewelry is produced by a small family owned business out of New York, New York.

Na Nin seeks production partners as well as independent brands who share values of integrity, honesty, fair wages, and healthy working conditions.

Where are your fragrances made?

Our fragrances are hand-blended, poured, and packaged by the Na Nin team in our Richmond, VA studio.

Vintage

What can I expect from my vintage piece?

Our vintage team carefully curates only the highest-quality vintage and second-hand items. Still, these items will likely have imperfections due to their pre-loved wear. We do our best to include noteworthy flaws, details, and color variations in each vintage product’s description and measurements. The colors of items may vary slightly from the product image.

What do you mean by “imperfections”?

Examples of imperfections that a vintage or second-hand item may retain include but aren’t limited to: pilling, discoloration, small tears, pulls, and loose threading.

The vintage piece I loved is out of stock. Will there be more?

Our vintage and secondhand finds are one-of-a-kind pieces, so we’re only able to stock individual items.

How do vintage sizes work?

Vintage sizes often vary from modern sizes, and some pieces are missing their original tags. We do our best to suggest the modern size range, but encourage you to refer to the listing’s measurements for a confident fit.

If you need additional information on sizing or specific products, email us at vintage@naninstudio.com. Our customer service hours are Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm EST. Please note that inquiring about a vintage item does not guarantee availability.

Please refer to our shipping & returns page for detailed information concerning our policies. All prices are in USD.

Jewelry

How can I best care for my Na Nin jewelry?

We recommend keeping pieces dry and removing them at night. Sterling Silver and Brass pieces may tarnish over time. Restore shine with a polishing cloth. Gold plated jewelry can be polished with a soft cotton cloth.

Candles

Are your candles non-toxic?

Our products are non-toxic and cruelty free, as well as phthalate-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, vegan and not tested on animals.

How can I best care for my candles?

Make sure you light your candle on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts and winds. Before lighting, always trim your wick to ⅓ to ¼ of an inch. This prevents excess smoking and soot, allowing for a cleaner overall burn. Re-trim the wick every time you light your candle.

For the first burn, keep your candle lit for at least 2 hours, or until the entire top surface of the wax is melted. Wax has a “memory” - a proper first burn extends the life of the candle and prevents tunneling over time. Avoid keeping your candle lit for more than 4 hours. Extinguish the flame gently, and if possible, immediately cover with a lid or heat-proof material to minimize smoking.

How long will my candle last?

5oz candle: up to 25 hrs
8oz candle: up to 35 hours
9oz candle: up to 40 hours

My candle arrived with small texture variations. Is it damaged?

“Wet spots” and “frosting” in candles are aesthetic imperfections that occur due to changes in temperature in the pouring environment, during transit, or in storage. Wet spots resemble spots or patches that appear to pull away from the surface of the glass vessel. Frosting resembles a slightly crystallized appearance that is characteristic to 100% natural soy wax, used in our candles as a sustainable and environmentally-friendly alternative to synthetic wax blends.

Wet spots and frosting are very common in handmade candles. Subtle shifts in atmosphere can affect the candle at any time, from immediately after pouring to weeks afterward in storage. We take care to avoid these imperfections, but any changes in the candles after they ship from our facility are unfortunately out of our control. Please note that these physical imperfections will never inhibit the functionality or fragrance of your candle—the candle will still burn beautifully, with a great fragrance throw.
